GROUP TOURS

All group tours are available Monday-Friday and must be scheduled in advance by contacting Shannon Rossomando at 520-299-9191 or education@degrazia.org.

The free guided tours began at 10:00 a.m. and last until about 11:30 a.m. After the tour, allow extra time to view the 30-minute documentary and visit the gift shop.

For school tours, teachers are responsible for scheduling a tour, arranging transportation and providing adequate supervision. Reimbursement for transportation costs may be available from the DeGrazia Foundation. There is a maximum of 35 students per tour, one tour per day.

The tour consists of walking through Ted and Marion DeGrazia's original home on the 10-acre site, their burial sites, the Mission in the Sun, and the main gallery. Groups will be outside for about 30 minutes, so wear appropriate clothing and shoes. Teachers are encouraged to have their students bring a sack lunch to eat afterwards at outdoor ramadas.

Groups can expect to learn about the life, history, and philosophy of the prolific artist; art mediums and techniques; Native American legends, ceremonies and history; desert horticulture; and recycling objects into art, among other topics.

Call or email to schedule a guided tour as far in advance as possible. The busiest time for group tours is from September through March.
