Sunday, June 13, 2004 - 10 a.m. to 4
p.m.
A full
day of activities including 5 hours of continuous live music will take place on the
desert grounds of the DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun. Catacoustic Groove,
a local a cappella singing group; Mariachi Milagro Juvenil, a Tucson youth Mariachi
bank and Domingo DeGrazia, the artist's son with his "new flamenco guitar" band, will
be the featured entertainers.
The Yoeme Tekia Foundation will operate
a food booth.
Two new exhibits will be introduced
in conjunction with the celebration. The first is "DeGrazia's Musicians," oils
on canvas from the permanent collection painted from 1932 to 1968. This exhibit
signifies the importance of music to DeGrazia. He was a musician himself - a
trumpet player and a band leader during his college days at the University of Arizona.
In addition, music was the theme of his Master's thesis.
The second exhibit is "DeGrazia's Studio."
The artist's original easel, palettes and palette knives, as well as personal
memorabilia will be displayed along with a series of self-portraits and photos of
the artist at work.
PiƱatas for the children will help make
the day a true DeGrazia Birthday Celebration!
